History of San Beda College Alumni Foundation
THE SAN BEDA COLLEGE ALUMNI FOUNDATION
On June 7, 1978 a group of alumni – Charles B. Rodriguez (El ’48, HS ’52), Vicente B. Fernandiz (HS ’54, BCS ’58), Benjamin L. Dy-Buncio; Kishu D. Sehwani (El ’49, HS ’53), Gregorio S. Oca (HS ’46), Antonio Roxas Chua (HS ’34) and Aurello Periquet, Jr. (HS ’46) as incorporators – filed in Securities and Exchange Commission the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws of the San Beda College Alumni Foundation, Inc. These were approved by the then-Commissioner Julio Sulit, who issued the necessary registration. The foundation operated as a non-stock, non-profit corporation from 1978 to 1988. However, for failing to submit the General Information Sheet and the annual financial statements, the registration was revoked.
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation for 1997, knowing that the Foundation was operating without government recognition, commissioned Edgardo B. Favila (HS ’71), a member of the Board, to work out a scheme for re-registration. Ed Favila successfully negotiated the registration of a new foundation with the name “San Beda College Alumni Foundation, Inc.” with the following incorporators: Jaime Glavez Tan (HS ’66), Ricardo Barreiro (El ’66, HS ’70), Francisco Aquino, Jr. (El ’66, HS ’70), Dom Clement Roque, OSB (HS ’62), Ricardo Liwanag, Felipe M.
