SBCAF partners with DepED in National Greening Program

On the occasion of the feast of St. Benedict last July 11, 2011, the SBC Alumni Foundation entered into a partnership agreement with the Department of Education in implementing Presidential Executive Order No. 23: The National Greening Program. As agreed with the DepED, a native tree for every school will be planted making every school an urban native forest. The Memorandum of Understanding with DepED was signed by Bro. Armin Luistro, FSC, DepED Secretary and Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan SBCAF president. After the signing, the SBCAF and DepED officials planted the endemic and rare mangkono (the Philippine iron wood), SBC’s family tree, within the DepED compound, as a symbolic representation of the partnership between the two institutions. The event was attended by Asec Reynaldo Laguda, Dr. Yolanda Quijano, Dra. Maria Corazon Dumlao, Dr. Juan Araojo, and Mr. Ferdinand Nunez.
